Synergism among disciplines is distinctive mark of research undertakings at UP Visayas. As an academic institution, UPV has the mission to provide quality education especially in fisheries and aquatic sciences and to take an advocacy role in the sustainable development of the Visayas region and of the nation.
It achieves this by drawing upon its core mass of scientists and researchers in the different colleges and research centers the much needed results of scientific investigations in order to 1) make significant contributions to marine and coastal resource management; 2) clarify fisheries policies and promote the capacity of aquatic resources to meet human needs; 4 ) solve conflicts among multiple resource users ; 5) improve government and industry decision-making on rational and environmentally sound utilization of living aquatic resources; and provide recommendations or action plans for environmental protection.
