Leo Gali (b.1974), from Panitan town, recently turned over his painting titled “Feminine Colors” (2021, oil on canvas, 60.96 x 60.96 cm) to the Office of Initiatives in Culture and the Arts.

Mr. Reilly Bautista, an instructor at the Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics, College of Arts and Sciences, was recognized as having the best poster presentation at the 23rd National Physics Conference of Samahang Pisika ng Visayas at Mindanao (SPVM). His work titled “First-principles calculation of carbon dioxide adsorption on nickel-decorated graphene” was created for the competition's Biophysics/Complex system/High Energy Physics/Computational Physics category. He is co-author of “Effect of Cu-doping at the Mo-site on electronic properties of monolayer MoS2: A density functional theory study,” which is a paper that was presented orally for the same category.

Happiness is relative; one’s happiness may be different from what makes other people happy. Tagged with everyone’s happiness is a goal to reach, and as happiness is relative, so is one’s goal. Achieving our goals take time, and we want to guarantee a financially stable future because we do not know what it holds for us. The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) funded program “Tourism Studies on Island-Based Opportunities for Growth in Western Visayas - (TSIBOG)” commenced last July 2021 with seven research projects under its wing. One of these is the project “Bridging the Past, Sailing toward the Future: History to the (and by the People).” The project partnered with the Local Government Unit of Ibajay, Aklan and the Department of Education - Division of Aklan to train elementary and secondary teachers, tourism and planning officers, and people’s organizations in doing historical research and promoting cultural heritage tourism in the Municipality of Ibajay.

A total of 135 wifi routers were handed over to nine local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas through the facilitation of the CAS COP-BIDANI. The routers, distributed from June to November 4 of this year, were donated by Ayala Foundation, Inc. as part of its WiFi2TEACH program that is committed to support public schools and communities in this age of remote learning. The LGU beneficiaries are Nueva Valencia in Guimaras; Carles, San Dionisio and Estancia in Iloilo; Barbaza in Antique; and, President Roxas, Cuartero, Maayon and Dumalag in Capiz.

In the 7th installment of the Visayas Universities Debating Championship – British Parliamentary 2021, the University of the Philippines Visayas Debate Society garnered several awards with a spot in the Open Grand Finals, 3 overall best speaker awards, 2 overall best adjudicator awards, 3 breaking teams and 3 breaking adjudicators, last November 6 – 7, 2021, which the University of San Carlos hosted.
