University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Chancellor, Dr. Clement Camposano and Project Development Assistant for Mass Media and Communications of the Office of the Chancellor, Dr. Zoilo Andrada, Jr., led the press launch of BANTALA: The UPV Media Excellence Awards (UPVMEA), yesterday, March 25, 2021, at the UPV Little Theatre, UPV Iloilo City Campus.

The UPV Gender and Development Program (GDP), together with Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Center, celebrates the National Women’s Month through various activities which center on themes such as Women and Health, Women and the Family, Inclusivity and Intersectionality, Women and the Arts, and Celebrating Men as Allies.

“Open your awareness and discover your interest” was Dr. Vivian A. Topor's message to the high school students who attended the virtual “Views of Careers 2021” program of the Office of Student Affairs last February 16, 2021. Seventeen high schools from all over Western Visayas were oriented on the course offerings, admission requirements, career opportunities, and notable alumni from the university's different fields of study. Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, highlighted the excellent curriculum and internationally recognized alumni and faculty of their College. Dr. Ramer P. Bautista, Dean of the School of Technology, presented plans to open programs like Coastal Engineering and Industrial Engineering in the future. Prof. Steve P. Janagap, College Secretary of the College of Arts and Sciences, presented the 14 courses being offered by the CAS across different divisions. Prof. Arthur P. Barrido, Dean of the College of Management, clearly defined the significance of the various courses they offer.

Prof. Fernando S. Tinagan, a faculty member of the Physical Education Department, College of Arts and Sciences, wins “Silver Medal” during the recently concluded 2021 LUZVIMIN Friendship Games International Virtual “Kata” E-Tournament. The competition was participated in by the different Karate-do clubs in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and other countries. Prof. Tinagan voluntarily joined and competed in the Master’s Category (50 years old and above) going up against various Karate Instructors and Masters as participants
