The University of the Philippines Visayas Ugnayan ng Pahinungód/Oblation Corps (UPV UP/OC), a volunteer service program directly under the Office of the Chancellor, will ink a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Education 6 in the implementation of the UPV Aabutin Ang Pangarap (UPV-AAP) Caravan.
The caravan aims to widen the scope of information dissemination about the UP admission process and the scholarship opportunities to Grade 11 students, especially those in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA), through the Affirmative Action Program (AAP).
To help the students prepare for the entrance examination, a 2-day College Admission Test and Refresher (CATSaR) program will be conducted, which they can also use for other higher education institutions. Complementary to these initiatives for students is the Teacher Development Program (TDP), which aims to improve the capabilities of teachers in delivering quality education.
To further discuss the details of the program, Chancellor Clement C. Camposano met with DepEd 6 officials, including Dr. Leonerico Barredo, Chief of the Education Support Services Division, and Ms. Ma. Lira Cynthia Quejada, Project Development Officer IV.
Camposano was accompanied by Prof. Jerry Ian L. Leonida, OIC Director of UPV UP/OC; Ms. Gerthrode Charlotte Tan-Mabilog, Director of the UPV Information and Publications Office; and Ms.Loise Jamolo from the Office of the Chancellor.
Camposano emphasized UPV’s commitment to assist DepEd 6 in its programs, including the farm school, which is strongly promoted by Dr. Ramil B. Uytico, CESO IV, Regional Director of DepEd 6. (With sources from UPV UP/OC)
