Twenty-two graduates from the University of the Philippines Visayas School of Technology (UPV SOTECH) successfully passed the August 2023 Licensure Examination for Food Technologists held in various testing centers nationwide, specifically located at National Capital Region, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Rosales, and Zamboanga last August 10-11, 2023, with Ms. Mary Denize Celine Portal, PFT, bagging the ninth (9th) spot in the roll of successful examinees after posting an 84.75% personal rating.
In an announcement released by the Professional Regulation Commission following the results on August 16, the newly-registered Professional Food Technologists (PFTs) brought UPV SOTECH a passing rate of 78.57% which encompasses the 22 new Food Technology professionals out of 28 examinees with 5 conditional takers. The National Passing Rate for the first-ever Food Technology licensure exam was recorded to be 39.98% with 453 passers out of 1133 takers.
Some of these successful examinees were SOTECH's very own faculty, including Ms. Mary Denize Celine Portal, PFT, Ms. Riza Flores, PFT, Ms. Ma. Carisse Compendio, PFT, and Mr. Janreich Miramon, PFT.
