The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) project team members led by its program manager, Dr. Harold Monteclaro, paid courtesy visits to three municipalities in Antique from January 24 to 25, 2024.
The team was able to meet with Mayor Jose Jeffrey Lumugdang of Culasi, Mayor Roberto Necor of Barbaza, and representatives of the Municipal Health Office and Municipal Agriculture Office in Sibalom on behalf of Mayor Gian Carlo Occeña. Mayor Occeña has previously met with the group on the nutrition study.
The study titled “From Policy to Practice: Implementation Study of National Programs on Nutrition, Food Security, Education Literacy, and Employment in the Province of Antique, Philippines" will be implemented in the municipalities of Culasi, Barbaza, and Sibalom of the province.
The study is divided into four components, focusing on specific programs on nutrition with Prof. Josephine Firmase as Project Leader, food security with Mr. Sashah Dioso as Project Leader, education literacy with Prof. Jonevee Amparo as Project Leader, and employment with Atty. Christopher Honorario as Project Leader. The study aims to examine various national policies and programs that have an impact on the community and the industry in the province.
Consequently, the study will describe the level of program implementation and the availability of factors affecting the passage from policy to local practice. The data gathered will be utilized by local government units and legislators in developing policies and entry points for concerted actions locally, nationally, and even internationally. The project will be implemented for one year.
