The Batchoy Project under the Panay Weaving and Culinary Heritage Program held its ceremonial MOA Signing with Iloilo City at the City Mayor’s Office, Iloilo City Hall today, September 03, 2024.
Representing the Iloilo City local government unit (LGU) during the signing was Mayor Jerry Treñas. Chancellor Clement C. Camposano represented the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) along with UP CIDS Executive Director Dr. Rosalie Alcala-Hall, and CWVS Director Asst. Prof. Frances Anthea Redison for the Project “Namit Gid!: A Multi Stakeholders' Collaboration for Ilonggo’s Batchoy.”
To further promote and shape Iloilo City’s booming gastronomic identity, the forged partnership will focus on the history and cultural significance of batchoy in shaping the origins, evolution, and its role in shaping the City of Iloilo’s gastronomic identity. The project aims to assess the perceived capacity enhancement needs of the batchoy businesses as well as enhance the value chain practices and resource management for batchoy production.
The MOA Signing was facilitated by MICE Director Ms. Lea Victoria Lara and Atty. Reinhart Pahila from the Mayor's Office. It was attended by representatives from UPV including Dr. Mary Rose Rebueño, Batchoy Project Leader; Ms. Febrey Esclares, Senior Office Asst.; and Junior Admin Aprille Danilly Guintibano.
