UPHSI students make waves with their researches at Creative Investigation Congress 2024

Five groups of student researchers from UP High School in Iloilo’s Grade 12 ABM and HUMSS presented their papers at the Creative Investigation Congress 2024 online on May 22, 2024 with the theme “Research Trends and Future Pathways.” Three groups from 12 STEM presented their papers on the 23rd. The conference was organized by the University of the Philippines High School Cebu in partnership with UP Cebu Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, UPHS Cebu Batch ‘79, UP CERFI, and UPHSC PTA. 

The group from the HUMSS strand presented their research online, via pre-recorded video. The research titled “Factors that Influence UPHSI Student Commuters Preference between E-bus and Jeepney at Festive Walk Terminal" was written by Ms. Sheina Elijah Penetrante, Ms. Princess Sofia Santamena, Ms. Angel Rose Valencia, and Ms. Lovella Zabala under the supervision of their research adviser Dr. John E. Barrios.

Similarly, three groups from the ABM strand, advised by Professor Reynold Tan, presented online: “Financial Viability of UPV-CFOS Green Mussel Hatchery Operation in Miag-ao, Iloilo” by Ms. Shires Pastolero, Ms. Lyka Abogado, Ms. Frenchie Ballescas, Ms. Jhen Calcaben, Mr. Mauriest Cayanan, and Ms. Richa Padpad;  “Factors Influencing Out-of-Home Coffee Consumption among Iloilo City Residents" authored by Ms. Araeanah Lei Ombiga, Mr. Marco Kristovv Belencion, Ms. Hyacinth Claire Sulit, Ms. Kaesha Mae Celiz, Ms. Angel Conte, Mr.  John Cristofer Lipa, and Mr. Andrew Joaquin Mabilog; "Unveiling Iloilo’s Snacking Habit: An Investigation into Snacking Habits and the Landscape for Profitable Business Pursuits” done by Mr. Kenneth Hans Delmo, Mr. Jaymar Davila, Mr. Matt Simone Diana, Ms. Revenel Gerene Montaño, Mr. Richard Giovanne Rosal, Ms. Alyzza Gale Sariego, and Mr. Eleazar Sarmiento III; “Determinants of Online Food Delivery App Usage among Iloilo City Residents: The effects of Socio- demographic and Situational Factors” by Ms. Jeareene Therese Loredo, Mr. Nile Joseph Araneta, Ms. Ashley Fuentebella, Ms. Romella Lorin Memoria, Ms. Cheska Nicole Oviedo, and Ms. Joane Yzabelle Yabillo. 

Meanwhile, three groups of student researchers presented their papers face-to-face at UP Cebu Professional Schools. The researches presented included “Acceptability of Einstein Shape and Corn Cob Ash Aggregate as Modifications in the Making of a Concrete Paver Brick" by Ms. Mikeila Rianne Margasino, Mr. Kervin Villalon, Mr.  Gabriel Angelo Tutanes , Mr. Clarence Genterola, Mr. Michael Richwen Sotero, and Ms. Estelle Maja Duremdes; “Incorporating Pomacea cannaliculata (Golden Apple Snail) and Musa acuminata X balbisiana (Saba Banana) Peels to Glycine Max (Soybean) Meal as Replacement for Fishmeal in Oreochromis niloticus (Nile Tilapia) Feeds” by Ms. Shanie Mae Alfonsa, Ms. Lara Andrea Cava, Ms. Jeff Lorainne Guileño, Ms. Ayhen Cheniel Monares, Ms. Claire Angelique Ojerio, and Mr. Caleb Salado; and “VitaOceanica: Biostimulant Properties of Seagrass Litter-based Fertilizer (Abelmoschus esculentus) Cultivation” by  Ms. Hannah Guadalupe, Ms. Reeza Marie Delamar, Ms. Eushabelle Maurice Fortes, Ms. Giuliann Galvez,  Ms. Jhuliana Jaca, Ms. Angela Jubida, and Mr. Neo Marby Pendon, advised by prof. Raffy Belleza with the accompaniment of  Prof. Jose Taton.
