UP High School in Iloilo’s Grade 10 student, Ayanna P. Fuerte, reaped medals in the recently concluded MLA Dance Prix 2024 held at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in BGC, Taguig last August 24-25, 2024.
Fuerte won gold award in Contemporary Dance and won Best Performer Award (with the highest score for all contemporary dances) for her solo performance of “Abyss.” She also snatched the silver award in the trio performance “Habangbuhay” alongside 2 other artists of the PCD School of Performing Arts.
She was also given the gold awards in classical ballet performance for “Coppelia Swanhilda Act I,” and in “OPM Classics” performed together with 13 senior girls. They claimed the highest score for all classical ballet ensemble, thereby winning the Best Performer Award for the category.
She was named Top 2 Over-All based on the average of contemporary and solo performances’ scores in the competition.
Her choreographers for these performances were Ms. Pauline Cordero - Dingcong and Ms. Pearl Cordero.
On June 7-9, 2024, Fuerte also clinched two silver awards for Contemporary Dance and Classical Ballet categories in the International Ballet Grand Prix 2024 held in Metro Manila. She received two scholarships for The Place, School of Performing Arts in London, UK & IBGP 2025 Scholarship.
She went on to represent the Philippines in July in the IBGP 2024 Grand Finals held at National University of Singapore where she bagged two bronze medals. She is also the sole recipient of the La Salle College of Arts Singapore scholarship.
