Four Grade 12 students of UP High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) bagged three special awards during the 13th Regional Congress Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists held in Penang, Malaysia from June 10-14, 2024.
The research team, also known as Team Chembyo, was awarded silver for Outstanding Award for Project Exhibit and bronze for Special Award for Creativity or Innovation and Special Award for Benefit(s) to the Community. The team is made up of Precious Sophia T. Bayoneta, Contessa Marie E. Ko, Earianne Jayne D. Ogatis, and Rysa Anne G. Tabuada.
Their research study titled “Characterization of Corn Flakes Incorporated with Moringa (Moringa oleifera) and Jamaican Cherry (Muntingia calabura)” is one of the multiple studies presented during the competition. The event gathered more than 500 delegates from all over Southeast Asia.
The team was accompanied by UPHSI principal, Prof. Edelia T. Braga, and research adviser, Prof. Jonny B. Pornel.
