UP Visayas, UMT sign MOU on academic, cultural cooperation

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), a public university in Malaysia, signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) for academic and cultural exchange.

UPV Chancellor Dr. Clement C. Camposano sealed the agreement with UMT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim during the ASEAN-FEN+ Leaders Symposium in Qingdao, China on October 24-25, 2024.

Under the agreement, both universities will undertake educational and research activities in all areas and disciplines that both parties offer.

The cooperation aims to foster faculty and student mobility programs as well as joint research and publication of research findings, especially between the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UPV and the Institute of Climate Adaptation and Marine Biotechnology, UMT.

Serving as witnesses to the MOU were CFOS dean Prof. Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro and UMT Institute of Climate Adaptation and Marine Biotechnology director Prof. Dr. Yeong Yik Sung.

UPV and UMT are two of the 10 Core Institutional Members of the ASEAN Fisheries Education Network (ASEAN-FEN), which is a university-based consortia of fisheries and aquaculture institutions in Southeast Asia.
