UP OVPD meets with OVCPD, UPV heads to discuss programs, projects

The University of the Philippines Office of the Vice President for Development (UP OVPD) met with the UP Visayas Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development (OVCPD) and heads of concerned offices and units. 

The OVPD, led by Vice President for Development Engr. Daniel Peckley, Jr., held meetings and visited project and relocation sites in the two campuses of UPV on April 2-3, 2025. With him were Asst. VP for Land Use Planning and Development Dr. Karen Ann Jago-on and Ms. Jayvee Ann Jumaguio. 

The meetings centered on three important matters that will influence the strategic direction of the university with regard to physical development and the optimal use of the university’s resources to complement its mandated functions. First is the environmental compliance to permits and licenses of UPV in UP properties. Second, land titling status of UP landholdings managed by UPV. Third, the status of Miagao and Iloilo City campuses in terms of occupants using UP properties without permission from the university Specific actions were discussed in response to these concerns. 

UPV was represented by Chancellor Clement Camposano and Vice Chancellor Dr. Rhodella Ibabao in their meeting in the Miagao campus and VCPD Ibabao and Vice Chancellor for Administration Farisal Bagsit in the Iloilo City campus meeting. The conditions and suggested recommendations were discussed by Arch. Christian Rodeo Pancrudo of the OVCPD-Campus Architect Team and Atty. Dominique del Rosario of the OVCPD-Site Acquisition and Resettlement Project Team. 

The areas visited by the OVPD included the site for the UPV-PCA Hybrid Coconut Seed Farm in Brgy. Lumangan, the New University Library, the Regional Research Center, the School of Technology, and the Staff House, among others, in the Miagao campus. 

In the Iloilo City campus, the OVPD were able to see the developments of the College of Law Building ang the Multipurpose Facility which are currently under construction. The OVPD personnel were toured by VCPD Ibabao and the OVCPD staff.
