Engr. Jeraldine D. Calangi, Engr. John Salvador Y. Ricacho, and Engr. John Loui T. Tadia of the School of Technology, University of the Philippines Visayas, participated in the International Conference on Engineering Education-Philippines 2022 (ICEE- Phil 2022), held on December 9-10, 2022, at the Verdure, 4th Floor of Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University, Manila Philippines. The faculty members also presented their research papers during the parallel paper presentation.
Engr. Ricacho presented their paper “UPV SOTECH Experience: Remote Delivery of Chemical Engineering Laboratory Course during COVID-10 Pandemic,” which he co-authored with Engr. Francis Eric P. Almaquer, Engr. John Loui T. Tadia, and Engr. Jeraldine D. Calangi.
Engr. Calangi also presented their paper “Chemical Engineering Laboratory Skills Training: Bridging the Gap between Remote Learning and Face-to-Face Industry Immersion,” which she co-authored with Engr. John Salvador Y. Ricacho, Engr. John Loui T. Tadia, Engr. Alexis G. Azucena, and Engr. Ramer P. Bautista.
The parallel presentations discussed the best practices, delivery techniques, and suggestions for improvement of chemical engineering laboratory and internship courses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ICEE-Phil is an annual gathering of engineering educators in the Philippines and nearby regions to foster sharing of knowledge and best practices for the advancement of Engineering Education in the country. The conference, with the theme "Breaking Through the New Challenges in Engineering Education,” was hosted by the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools, Inc. (PAES).
PAES is comprised of Higher Education Institutions in the Philippines offering Engineering Programs. The organization aims to ensure quality engineering education by sharing best practices among members during annual meetings, conferences, faculty development activities, and engaging faculty members and students in research, innovation, and extension services.
