OSA helps prepare graduating students for future careers

The Office of Student Affairs, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV-OSA) recently held the Career Talk 2024 to equip graduating college students of the University with employment-related information to prepare them for their future careers.

The Career Talk 2024, held on March 15 at the CFOS AV Hall, Miagao campus, featured guest speakers from national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), local government units, the private sector, and the University who discussed a variety of topics.

These topics included preparing for the Career Service Examination, learning their social security and insurance benefits, knowing job trends, writing resumes, and preparing for interviews. The talks also included learning about financial management and exploring international opportunities.

Dr. Alice Joan Ferrer, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, in her video message, reminded the attendees of their responsibility to serve the people, a hallmark of UP education.

Chancellor Clement Camposano, meanwhile, talked about the dynamism in the workplace based on his experience in the academe and the private sector. He also talked about the fluidity of the job market.

The Career Talk 2024 aimed to provide UPV graduating students with relevant employment information to prepare them for their transition from the University into the workforce, according to OSA. The series of talks would better prepare them for challenges and give them an edge in their respective workplaces in the future.

OSA held a similar activity at the GCEB, UPV Iloilo City campus on March 12.
