The Office of the Faculty Regent and the All UP Academic Employees Union (AUPAEU) - Iloilo Chapter held the Ikot Unyon 2025 and Batayan on March 12, 2025, at the GCEB Training Rooms, UP Visayas (UPV), Iloilo City campus.
Faculty members of the Professional Education (ProfEd) and the Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) attended the activity.
AUPAEU National Executive Board Vice President for Faculty Dr. Rommel Rodriguez and AUPAEU-Iloilo Chapter Vice President for Faculty Prof. Hermie Cartagena presented the national situationer and discussed issues concerning the faculty and REPS.
The morning session was intended for the REPS, while the afternoon session, dubbed “Pagbabalita’t Talakayan tungo sa Kaayohan ng UP Basic Education Faculty sa UP High School in Iloilo,” was attended by the ProfEd faculty members.
The invited guest speaker was Mr. Maximo Montero, a representative of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers Region 6.
Chancellor Clement Camposano, Vice Chancellor for Administration Farisal Bagsit, and OIC Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Eric Rizo joined Prof. Rodriguez, FR Gadong, and Prof. Cartagena during the open forum for the REPS. Meanwhile, Rodriguez, Gadong, and Cartagena answered questions of faculty members in the afternoon open forum.
Some of the questions from the faculty and REPS concerned the tenure of REPS, union representation, the UP Core Curriculum, and eHOPE guidelines.
