Members of the Institute of Contemporary Economics (ICE) recently met with Chancellor Clement Camposano and College of Management Dean Atty. Christopher Honorario of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) to discuss a collaboration that will help barangays with their development plans and budgets.
The said UPV representatives met with Executive Director Bonnie Ladrido, Jen Ladrido, and Ariel Castañeda to discuss the collaboration on the origination and delivery of modules intended to help barangay officials become proficient in preparing their Barangay Development Plan, Annual Investment Plan, and annual budget.
According to ICE, the collaboration, which is part of the institute’s governance advocacy, will initially focus on the technical and practical details of the preparation of these documents required for the release of barangay budgets and various developmental purposes.
The second phase of the program seeks to assist barangay officials in enhancing the quality of these plans to make them more meaningful and impactful to the communities and their constituents.
ICE and UPV plan to expand the network which will include other academic institutions and relevant government agencies and deliver the program to prepare barangay officials for the development of plans for the 2027 budget cycle. (With sources from ICE)
