The Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) held an orientation for newly hired non-teaching personnel from February 19–20, 2025, at the Miagao Interactive Learning Center (MILC), Tomas Fonacier Hall, UPV, Miagao, Iloilo.
Chancellor Clement C. Camposano delivered his welcome message, followed by the introduction of the participants.
Ms. Jeizel Rose B. Montana, University Extension Specialist II at the HRDO, gave a talk on “Knowing Your Values and Ethics.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Carlson B. Alelis, University Research Associate I at the Information and Publications Office, presented a briefing to get to know UPV.
HRDO Chief, Ms. Ella O. Tidon, discussed the topic, “Knowing Your Duties and Responsibilities.” An open forum followed the discussion, which concluded the first day of the orientation.
The second day of the orientation began with a discussion on appointment procedures by Ms. Chona G. Herrera and Ms. Amytess N. Soltis.
Topics on the Individual Staff Development Plan, Opportunities for Staff Development, and Rewards/Recognition were presented by Ms. Montana, Mr. Mueda, and Chief HRDO Tidon.
The afternoon session covered topics related to the UPV Employees Cooperative and AUPWU, UPV Chapter. These were discussed by Ms. Rina Joy C. Ambatang, a BOD Member of UPVEC, and Ms. Maria Regina M. Montevirgen, President of AUPWU, along with BOD Member Ms. Rosana G. Alama.
Dr. Cherry P. Añasco, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Administration, delivered the closing message.
This orientation was organized to help participants develop a better understanding of UPV, become equipped with knowledge on appointment procedures, benefits, and privileges that employees are entitled to, and appreciate the importance of positive work values and ethics in contributing to a positive organizational culture.
