The Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (DPSM) conducted an Academic Program Improvement (API) activity entitled “Workshop on the Assessment of Instruction and Refinement of Teaching Modules for Mathematics and Statistics Service Courses” at the GCEB Training Room, UPV Iloilo City on June 19-21, 2019.
Prof. Vicente T. Balinas, DPSM Chairman, cited in his opening remarks the importance of continuously updating and improving the instruction of courses, namely Math 10, Math 18, Math 50 and Stat 102. The activity commenced with the assessment of instruction of these courses with Prof. May Concepcion D. Pison, Prof. Michelle B. Besana, Prof. Maryene B. Sy Piecco and Prof. Lindley Kent M. Faina as resource speakers. They highlighted how these courses were currently taught and discussed the challenges they encountered. This was followed by cluster workshops where the participants addressed these challenges. This workshop was attended by Applied Mathematics and Statistics faculty members. At the end of the three-day activity, each cluster presented their improved teaching modules which will be implemented starting First Semester of AY 2019-2020.
