The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Challenge is an annual case study competition hosted by PwC Philippines which aims to provide a dynamic platform for undergraduate students to gain comprehensive knowledge of the Philippine M&A process, build practical skills, and gain exposure to real-world business scenarios.
As part of this year's M&A Challenge, the case focused on a hypothetical client in the banking industry seeking to identify potential target companies that could enhance its operations through emerging technologies. With an emphasis on innovation and efficiency, the client aimed to invest in or partner with companies that offer technology services to strengthen its competitive position.
Participants were tasked with developing strategies to help the client leverage technology in its operations.
The final leg of the competition, held on January 21, 2025, in AIA Tower, Paseo de Roxas, Makati City, saw the six finalists deliver a case presentation covering a comprehensive business and industry report, financial analysis, valuation, and sentiment analysis. The teams were juried by a distinguished panel that included Partners from PwC Philippines, industry experts, and successful business entrepreneurs. (With sources from PwC Philippines)
