The BS in Accountancy students representing the UPV College of Management - Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) won most of the academic competitions and were declared the Overall Champion of the Academic League of the 20th Regional Mid-Year Convention (RMYC). The RMYC is an annual gathering of accountancy students in the region organized by the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) - Region VI Chapter.
This year's convention with the theme, "Sinayà Kronika: Emblazing Imprints on Posterities,” was held at the Central Philippine University and the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City from January 17 to 19, 2025, and was participated in by hundreds of delegates from various colleges and universities in Western Visayas.
In the Academic League of the RMYC, teams from the College of Management won the following competitions: Champion of the Taxation Cup, Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting Cup, Management Advisory Services Cup, and Management Advisory Services Case Study Competition; 1st runner-up of the Basic Accounting Cup and RAQDOWN (an all-subject quiz bowl), and 2nd runner-up of the Financial Accounting & Reporting Cup and Auditing Cup.
Meanwhile, UPV also won various events of the Non-Academic League, including Champion in Poetry and Spoken Word, first runner-up in Digital Slogan Making and Amazing Race, and second runner-up in Essay Writing.
Finally, one of the convention's highlights was the Search for Mr. and Ms. Ambassadors of Goodwill 2025. Mr. Sean Pierre S. Real and Ms. Alexia Anne I. Amamanglon, both first-year BSA students, garnered the titles.
The awarding ceremony was held at the University of San Agustin Auditorium in Iloilo City last January 19, 2025. The 20th NFJPIA's RMYC is in partnership with P&A Grant Thornton, co-presented by PwC Philippines, Reo CPA Review, and HideAway Samgyupsal, and in cooperation with SGV & Co.
